GOOGLE MEET: Beginner’s Backpacking Gear Prep

*This MeetUp is a video conference call*

February 27th, 6:30PM-7:30PM

Hi Backpackers of all levels! Please join us for a video MeetUp geared towards helping our “beginners” prep gear for backpacking!

During this video conference, experienced backpackers of all levels will be available to discuss primary concerns related to gearing up for upcoming trips. Discussion points include:

  • Packs
  • Clothing/Shoes
  • Sleeping Gear
  • Shelter
  • Food
  • Cookware
  • Water
  • Situational Awareness
  • Attitude

We request that any beginners become aware of (and carry) the 10 Essentials before committing to any beginner’s backpacking trips. Due to time constraints, we cannot go over these in detail during this video conference. We will host a bonfire in March where we can cover these essentials in the detail they deserve.

Trail statistics are approximate. For safety purposes always assume they are underestimated. But don’t be disappointed if they are overestimated. Bring more water and snacks than you think you’ll need.

Trail descriptions are based on previous hikes. Current conditions are unknown until arrival. Expect the unexpected and plan accordingly.
